The A320neo LEAP-1A nacelle

Safran Nacelles has the complete responsibility for the design and integration of nacelles on the A320neo powered by LEAP-1A engines. The only nacelle manufacturer in the world present in all market segments, Safran Nacelles has reinforced its position as world leader for medium-haul aircraft.

Powered by the CFM International LEAP-1A* engine, the Airbus A320neo incorporates the best Safran Nacelles technologies developed for its expanding portfolio of products, such as the nacelles which have been equipping the Airbus giant, the A380.

An industrial organization close to the customer

Safran Nacelles has set up an industrial organization based on efficiency (automated lines and innovative inspection means), which is supported by its own production resources and backed by components provided from a carefully-selected international supply chain.

One of the industrial partners is U.S.-based Middle River Aerostructure Systems (ST Engineering), which provides the thrust reverser transcowl and cascades (both produced with composite materials), the thrust reverser actuation system, and engine build-up hardware associated with integrating the nacelle to the LEAP-1A powerplant.

When all nacelle components are received by Safran Nacelles (including the air inlet, fan cowls, thrust reverser, nozzle and EBU), they are assembled with the engine at Safran Nacelles' integration sites (Toulouse and Hamburg). The nacelle is also painted in the airline company colors before being delivered to the Airbus final assembly lines.

These activities are backed by a worldwide network of technical representatives and support managers on five continents. There are four distribution centres and five repair shops in the USA, Europe, The Middle East and Asia.
